Reality TV and Hairstyle Trends

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard of MTV's hit reality TV show "The Jersey Shore". When I first saw the show I didn't think too much of it, I must admit. The more I watched it, though, the more it grew on me for some reason. There was so much drama in the show, it kind of sucked me in. Isn't it that way with all popular reality TV though?

Reality TV shows like "The Jersey Shore" are influencing fashion and style. Just look at the two pictures below.

Snooki's Hair - The Jersey Shore Model with hair that looks like Snooki's hair

The woman pictured on the left is Nicole aka "Snooki." The woman on the right is a runway model showing off trends for this Spring. See any similarities? The hair color is very similar. Notice other similarities? Oh yes, the legendary "Snooki" poof. Nicole has reportedly ditched the poof, but others are picking it up it seems. I just happened to run accross this when looking at hairstyle trends for the season.

African American Hairstyles

As we approach the end of black history month, I wanted to pick out some of my favorite hairstyles for African American women.

Jennifer Hudson's HairThis first hairstyle is worn beautifully by Jennifer Hudson. Her hair looks so healthy. It is medium to short length and just messy enough to appear "sassy." The shine in her hair looks amazing.

Rhianna's HairI absolutely LOVE Rihanna's short pixie haircut. It is easy to fix and looks healthy and light. I really like this medium length hairstyle. It looks good on almost anyone it seems. The hairstyle is clean and sexy.

Alecia Keys' BraidsOk, of course Alica Keys' beauty would have something to do with it, but I still like her look with these braids. The braids show off her beautiful face and make an art of her hair. Braids are a sexy look when done right.

Black Hair StylesLastly, this beautiful afro-centric style shown in this photo is great for everyday activities. Just look how wonderful it looks and what personality it projects. Lovin' it!

So those are just a few of many great hair styles worn by black women. If you are wanting a change to one of these cuts or styles, find a stylist today to help you achieve the look you desire!
